New Earth, a planet colonized by humans from our Earth.
They have been taken from their homes and off the streets without their consent. Governments are aware of the disappearances and may also have a hand in them.
It has been going on for years, well before space travel; here on Earth became a reality.
New Earth has six large landmasses, which are named after places on Earth: New Britain, New Americas, New Russia, New Asia, New Europe, and New Australia. New Britain is the smallest of the large landmasses. The other five landmasses are about the same size.
There are many smaller islands; some are part of volcanic chains that are still active. Many of the islands have small communities living on them.
Both the poles have icecaps. The only settlements in these areas are on the edges of the ice sheet. The icecaps rarely melt.
The weather is similar to our Earth. There are great storms that come once or twice a year. They hit different parts of the planet but can be tracked and predicted, more or less.
New Earth has the technology of our twenty first century (perhaps the middle of the century, rather than the earlier part). Some communities shun modern technology, others embrace it.
There is a spaceport in orbit around New Earth so visitors from other planets in the Silverlink Universe can visit.
It takes two months to travel from New Earth to our Earth located on the edge of the Silverlink Universe.
